might show my age here, but when I was a young girl, my mom used to make a whole meatloaf dinner with the potatoes and carrots inside the casserole dish (she would come home from work around 4:30 and we would all eat around 6pm?) anyways, the meatloaf was a family favorite because all you did was mix the meatloaf, add the potatoes and carrots, and let it cook about an hour and a half. we would eat at the table and talk about our days at dinner. I miss those days

I've started putting my phone on a high shelf from 6:30-8:30 to help keep myself present in this time.

One of my favorite conversation starters is "high, low, buffalo": High: something that made you happy that day Low: something that made you feel down that day Buffalo: something surprising or unexpected that happened It's very sweet to see what kids come up with!

I have been involving my daughter when cooking dinner or breakfast on weekends. We got her those stairs with a lock behind to avoid her from falling. She has been so happy to help and makes me happy to do a chore with her instead of leaving her to play alone while I cook.
