In my personal experience with parents, it helps to talk about what they CAN do alongside limitations. Maybe they can't do the same physical activity loved, but how about a short walk or new routines in place. Obviously much depends upon the nature of physical limitation but I've found it helpful to focus on building new routines around what is possible, even if still quite limited and limiting.
