I love this notion of expansion! I think the most helpful way for me to think about it is - who is on the wider care team, and what is my part in that? Care for kids or aging parents doesn't fit into neat boxes or timelines, but there are roles that a variety of people can play. Getting explicit and clear about those roles--and revisiting often--allows for expansion without exhaustion. My family and I have weekly family care meetings so we can make sure we're all playing the right sized role with my dad, who has dementia.
