I am a non-camping person who went camping with a 16 month old and can call it a total success! Some tips: if babies are starting to walk, trying to be in a grass campsite with less rocks and not too close to water is helpful. We also rented a bigger tent and brought a pack and play and it worked great. Lastly, we went with a group of friends and divided food/equipment to bring so we didn't have to worry about bringing all things ourselves.
